The Snow Dad - Warm hands and feet. The secret.

A neat trick to keep hands and feet warm
One of the biggest concerns of any snow parent is the warmth of your kids. Especially hands and feet.

We surely pay a lot of attention to wear proper ski gloves, warm socks and take advantage of hand and feet warmers. And we are willing to spend a lot of money to get “the right one”. But there is a small trick, that I as a dad have found to be very effective.

Following decades in the snow sports, I found that one of the easiest ways to keep hands a feet warm is through keeping nails cut. Whilst this may seem strange, according to the Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology, keratin - the material which out nails are made from - is an excellent heat conductor. As such a 1mm difference in length can expell a great amount of heat from our extremities.

So next time you head out for a day of snow sports or just a day out in winter, check your nails and keep little hands and feet warm.

Enjoy life, enjoy sport!
